Bruce Springsteen Announces Two New Albums & Talks Politics

Bruce Springsteen has pulled back the curtain on his upcoming musical plans, confirming in a new interview with Rolling Stone that he is currently sitting on two separate records. The rock icon also addressed ongoing political friction, offering a sharp take on the current administration while acknowledging the polarized reactions he faces on tour.

Two New Albums on the Horizon

It has been six years since Springsteen’s last full-length studio release of original material in 2020. While he has stayed busy heavily touring North America and Europe and digging into archival material like Tracks II: The Lost Albums, fresh studio work has remained on the horizon.

Springsteen previously noted that a completed solo record was in the vault. Now, he has confirmed that the project is officially finished, though its release order has shifted. “Well, I’m currently working on a couple of records. I did finish one, and it is done,” Springsteen explained.

A second record is also underway, and material considerations dictate that it will drop first. “I’m in the process of working on this other one, which, because of the nature of the material, felt like it should come out first. So that’s the situation I’m in,” he said. He added, “I’m trying to finish that up, and I’d like to release that first. And then this other record that I made, which is not time-relevant, it can come out at any time and it’ll work.”

While the first completed record was previously identified as a solo project, Springsteen kept quiet on whether the second record features the E Street Band, simply calling it “a surprise.” When asked about a concrete release timeline, he admitted he didn’t have one yet, noting, “Hopefully sooner than later, of course.”

Political Stances and Fan Reactions

Known for his outspoken political views, Springsteen did not hold back when discussing the current political landscape and Donald Trump. Addressing the administration, Springsteen stated that he would like to see Democrats “make the last two years of Trump’s term the most miserable years of his life, if that was possible. And that’s what I’d like to see happen.”

The rocker also touched upon internal divisions within the Democratic Party as a potential hurdle for the 2028 election cycle, admitting it remains a “concern” while noting there are candidates he favors. As for his staunchly anti-Trump stance at shows, Springsteen acknowledged that it alienates some listeners. “This was the show I wanted to make, the story I wanted to tell. I went out to find its audience, and I’m sure there were people, and I’ve read things where people were vehement about the content of the show, and that’s just the way the chips fall,” he shared.

New Live Digital Release Arrives

While fans wait for further news regarding the new studio albums, Springsteen dropped Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour (Philadelphia Freedom Cut) on digital platforms. The release captures the first seven songs from the final performance of his tour earlier this year.

Springsteen noted that the remainder of the concert will follow soon, telling Rolling Stone, “I can’t wait another three, four months for the rest of the concert to be edited and have it finished. The whole thing, the pop-up tour, was about immediacy and being in this moment, providing something that I felt an audience, my audience, could use in this moment.”
