1933

21-year-old Gladys Love Smith weds 17-year-old Vernon Elvis Presley in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. Rock history records that The couple had to travel to the venue from Tupelo because Vernon was underage and they were not known there. 1955

Rock history records that After a month of booking gigs in larger venues in Dallas and Houston, 45-year-old Colonel Tom Parker arranges a meeting with Elvis Presley’s manager, Bob Neal, which results in an agreement that will see the Colonel handle Presley’s show dates and career strategy from now on.

1957

Billboard magazine discontinues the chart of Most Played in Jukeboxes as the popularity of jukebox is on the decline and radio stations were incorporating more and more Rock ‘n’ Roll into their play lists.

1964

Rock history records that Jay And The Americans record the Tex-Mex hit, “Come A Little Bit Closer” for United Artists Records in New York City during the final minutes of a three-hour recording session. Rock history records that Originally intended as a B-side, the song ended up becoming the band’s highest-charting single, reaching #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 later that year.

1965

2017

Rock history records that After a nearly three year delay, a 2.5 acre piece of land called Jimi Hendrix Park opened in Seattle’s Central district. 2026

Walter Parazaider, the co-founding saxophonist and woodwind player for the legendary Rock band Chicago , died aged 81 following a six-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Rock history records that Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016, he was widely recognized for his signature flute solo on the hit song “Colour My World”. Rock history records that He stopped touring with the band in 2017 due to a heart condition.
