1957

Rock history records that Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel , both just 16 years old, appear as Tom And Jerry on ABC-TV’s American Bandstand where they perform “Hey Schoolgirl”. The record would sell an estimated 100,000 copies and climb to #49 on Billboard Top 100.

The Beatles issued their second album, “With The Beatles” in the UK. Michael Hutchence, the 37-year-old lead singer of INXS, was discovered dead in his room at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Double Bay, Sydney. The New South Wales coroner determined that Hutchence’s death was the result of suicide, although some close to him believe he may have died from an accidental mishap rather than an intentional act.

2002

The surviving members of The Doors , Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger , revealed they would record and tour again with a new line-up among them ex-Cult singer Ian Astbury and former Police drummer Stewart Copeland.
