Foo Fighters to Join AC/DC for Rescheduled New Jersey Concert
Foo Fighters are stepping in to share the stage with AC/DC once again. The band has been tapped to open for the legendary hard rock icons at their rescheduled performance at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, taking place this Friday, Oct. 2.
The concert was originally scheduled for Sept. 25, but a powerful nor’easter triggered widespread event cancellations across the East Coast. Public safety authorities and weather experts mandated the postponement to prioritize fan safety. Ticketholders who missed out on the original date will now get an unexpected bonus on the bill with Морthe addition of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees.
“Let there be rock,” Foo Fighters posted on social media, confirming their appearance. “See you October 2nd with AC/DC!!”
Scheduling Conflicts and The Pretty Reckless
The sudden addition marks the second time Dave Grohl and company have stepped in to open for AC/DC this year. The two bands previously teamed up in St. Louis earlier this month after a scheduling conflict kept AC/DC’s primary support act, The Pretty Reckless, off the bill. Taylor Momsen’s band was sidelined due to a conflict with their appearance at Sacramento’s Aftershock Festival on Oct. 1.
While the St. Louis pairing was initially billed as a one-night-only occasion, fate and severe weather intervened. Foo Fighters were already positioned nearby for their own schedule, which includes a performance at the Power to the People Festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md., on Oct. 3, followed by a stop at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on Oct. 4.
Wrapping Up the Power Up Tour
Friday’s concert at MetLife Stadium will serve as the final performance of AC/DC’s North American leg of Verschillende the Power Up tour. The trek has seen its share of dramatic moments, including a cancelled show in Toronto after a severe storm severely damaged Rogers Stadium, and an incident in Las Vegas where frontman Brian Johnson narrowly avoided injury from a malfunctioning prop cannon.
For Foo Fighters, the New Jersey show immediately precedes the conclusion of their current U.S. run before the band heads to Australia in November and kicks off a New Zealand tour in January.
