Sharon Osbourne Explains Why Ozzy Was Buried at the Family Estate
In the year following Ozzy Osbourne’s passing in 2025, Sharon Osbourne has opened up about the deeply personal decision to place the legendary rocker to rest at the family’s Buckinghamshire estate rather than a public burial ground.
Speaking in a BBC interview, Sharon expressed deep gratitude for the letters and tributes left by fans at various Ozzy-related spots, but remained firm on why a private resting place was necessary. “There was no way I could put Ozzy in a public graveyard,” Sharon explained. “I’ve seen what happens to other people in the public eye. There’s no peace because people want to come and they want to pay their respects. That’s an ongoing thing and I wanted Ozzy to rest and just be.”
Coping With the Loss
Sharon shared that she visits her late husband every day at his gravesite on the estate grounds, noting that she can see the spot from her window and frequently speaks to him there. Reflecting on her ongoing grief, she admitted that the pain of losing the love of her life does not simply vanish.
“You’ve lost the love of your life, so you don’t just wake up and go, ‘I’m fine now. I’m cured.’ You never get over it. But you learn to live with it and that’s what I’m trying to do,” she told the BBC.
The grieving process follows a turbulent final year for the Black Sabbath icon, who insisted on performing his final shows despite severe health battles. Prior to his passing, Sharon revealed that a doctor warned Ozzy he wouldn’t get through the Back to the Beginning show, prompting Ozzy to defiantly state his desire to take the stage one last time.
