The Rolling Stones Are Back in the Studio, According to Courtney Pine
The Rolling Stones have reportedly returned to the studio. According to saxophonist Courtney Pine, the legendary rock band has been back at work following the release of their recent album, Foreign Tongues.
Pine shared the news during an appearance on BBC Radio Three’s Private Passions, in an episode scheduled to air on October 11th. Speaking about a recent collaboration, Pine stated that he just did another session a couple of weeks ago with Mick Jagger for The Rolling Stones.
Offering praise for the frontman, Pine added that Jagger is an amazing artist and noted that the pop world operates completely differently from anything he is used to. Pine previously worked with Jagger on his 1993 solo album, Wandering Spirit, contributing saxophone parts after being called out to Los Angeles.
A Fast Turnaround for New Material
By the band’s traditional standards, creating Foreign Tongues marked a swift turnaround following the arrival of Hackney Diamonds in 2023. Studio activity has remained strong, and hints about further releases have already surfaced from within the camp.
Back in June, Mick Jagger teased the possibility of a trio of records, telling NME that he had already started writing new songs. While noting that some tracks might ultimately end up written for other acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jagger emphasized his open-minded approach to writing.
Guitarist Keith Richards has similarly expressed a long-term commitment to recording. Speaking to SiriusXM in 2023, Richards insisted that the band will continue making new music indefinitely until they drop, describing the creative process as an ongoing pursuit they are in all the way.
Touring Plans on the Horizon
The Stones opted against touring behind Foreign Tongues this year, leaving them open time to spend back in the studio instead. However, future live dates remain a possibility.
Jagger recently told La Nación that he would love to tour the album and hopes to hit the road as soon as possible next year. Meanwhile, Keith Richards has remained non-committal about a timeline for 2026, explaining in May that the band is simply considering their next steps after finishing the record.
