Deep Purple Announces New Album
Roger Glover reveals new Deep Purple studio album with guitarist Simon McBride
DEEP PURPLE‘s founding member Roger
Glover talks upcoming changes and new album with guitarist Simon McBride in interview with Brazil’s A Rádio Rock. Morse‘s departure and McBride‘s arrival brings a fresh perspective to the band:
“Well, we’ve just undergone a big change, because our guitarist Steve Morse had to retire from the band because he was looking after his very ill wife. And so we have a new guitarist in the band called Simon McBride. And it’s a whole experience; I mean, it’s a different band.” Glover said.
He continued: “In a way, we have to embrace change. You can’t do the same thing over and over again, and we’ve had several changes, of course, over the years. And this one is particularly exciting. ‘Cause we’ve been working on a new album; we should have a new album out by next year. And we can’t stop writing. That’s what we do.”
DEEP PURPLE released their latest’s album, “Turning To Crime” in November 2021.
This LP features the band’s renditions of timeless rock classics and musical gems, with tracks originally recorded by renowned artists such as Bob Dylan, FLEETWOOD MAC, Bob Seger, CREAM, and THE YARDBIRDS. Each member of the band carefully selected the songs to include on the album.
Morse joined DEEP PURPLE in 1994 and effectively took over Ritchie Blackmore‘s position in the band. He had surpassed Ritchie’s tenure with the group.
Simon McBride is a guitar player, singer, songwriter, and band leader hailing from Belfast, Northern Ireland, a place with a rich musical heritage that includes Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher, THIN LIZZY, STIFF LITTLE FINGERS, and U2. McBride‘s musical style is influenced by blues, rock, and jazz. He cites guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Rory Gallagher as his primary influences. He has released several albums as a solo artist, including “Rich Man Falling” (2008), “Crossing The Line” (2012), and “Show Me How To Love” (2021).
He has also toured extensively, both as a solo artist and with other musicians. He has performed at various music festivals around the world, including the Glastonbury Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival, and the Bluesfest in Ottawa, Canada.
