Jack Black’s Black Sabbath Tribute Band Joined by Geezer Butler for ‘War Pigs’
Jack Black’s Black Sabbath tribute act, Jack Sabbath, reunited at Tom Morello’s Power to the People Festival. During the set, the cover band was joined by actual Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler for a performance of “War Pigs.”
Jack Sabbath Hits the Stage in Maryland
Taking the stage at Columbia, Maryland’s Merriweather Post Pavilion, Black performed alongside a young backing band featuring Tom Morello’s son Roman on guitar, Scott Ian’s son Revel on bass, teenage Japanese drummer Yoyoka Soma, and keyboardist Hugo Weiss. The group opened their three-song set with Ozzy Osbourne’s “Mr. Crowley” and Black Sabbath’s “The Wizard” before welcoming Butler to the stage for “War Pigs.”
Following the performance, Butler praised Soma on social media, calling her “an amazing drummer.”
A History of Jack Sabbath
Jack Sabbath originally debuted in 2023 to perform “Mr. Crowley” at the 100th birthday party of Tom Morello’s mother, Mary. Two years later, in 2025, Black and his young band recreated Osbourne’s “Mr. Crowley” video for Osbourne’s Back to the Beginning farewell concert.
Between those performances, Black delivered Osbourne’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction speech when the singer entered the hall as a solo artist in 2024. During that speech, Black lauded Osbourne’s massive impact on rock history:
“This motherfucker invented Heavy Metal, along with Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, and the immortal Tony Iommi, the darkest, heaviest shit the world had ever heard,” Black said at the time. “He invented a genre, then had the greatest second act come back in rock history.”
