Phoebe Bridgers Releases Third Album ‘Lost Weekend’

Phoebe Bridgers has officially returned with her third solo album, Lost Weekend, arriving six years after her acclaimed 2020 sophomore release, Punisher. The 16-track record features a surprising assortment of guest contributors spanning indie rock, pop, and extreme metal.

Unexpected Collaborations: Godflesh, Geese, and More

Among the most striking guest appearances on Lost Weekend is Godflesh frontman Justin Broadrick, who plays electric guitar on the track "Bobby." Broadrick’s contribution arrives as his own industrial metal project winds down following his recent hernia surgery and the upcoming release of Godflesh’s penultimate album, Decay.

The album also features Geese frontman Cameron Winter providing backing vocals on the track "I Can’t Wait." Winter is credited under the pseudonym "Son-John Johnson." To mark the release of "I Can’t Wait," Bridgers dropped a music video directed by Chris Maggio and Pablo Rochat that mimics a bug’s perspective flying across Los Angeles, passing through guitars and soaring over the Glendale roller rink where Bridgers recently hosted an album listening party.

A Hidden Track Featuring Isaac Wood

Physical media buyers get an extra surprise. Hidden on the CD version of Lost Weekend in the pre-gap before the opening track "The Outside" is a secret song titled "Best Dressed." The track features former Black Country, New Road vocalist Isaac Wood, alongside additional credits for Conor Oberst, Jack Antonoff, and Jon Brion.

Wood’s collaboration with Bridgers follows the announcement that he will join her on the upcoming UK and European legs of The Lost Tour.

Direct Influences Shared at a Fan Q&A

Having given very few traditional interviews around the release, Bridgers discussed the record’s creative roots during a fan Q&A at the Moonlight Rollerway in Glendale, California. Asked about artistic media inspirations, she pointed to Billy Wilder’s 1945 drama The Lost Weekend—the film that inspired the album’s title—and the 2003 experimental folk-tronica album The Lemon of Pink by The Books.

Bridgers is set to hit the road next month for the phoneless Lost Tour, kicking off in Indianapolis on September 15.
