Queen Bringing Restored Budapest Concert Film to London Roundhouse

Queen are giving fans a chance to step back into 1986 with a special immersive screening of Queen Budapest at London’s iconic Roundhouse on October 3. The newly restored concert film—capturing the band’s historic stadium show behind the Iron Curtain—will be presented across two screenings at 2pm and 7pm as a live-gig-style experience.

The event aims to replicate the atmosphere of a vintage Queen performance by pairing the giant LED screen footage with surround sound and synchronised lighting. Fans will also be able to view a range of original Queen merchandise on display at the venue.

“It’s going to be definitively the most real experience ever of us, Queen, in our glory days,” Brian May said of the screenings. “I think people will get lost in it and even forget they’re watching a film.”

Significance and Release Details

For fans, Queen Budapest holds major significance as the last filmed live performance of the band alongside Freddie Mercury. Captured during the Magic tour just a month prior to Queen’s final show at Knebworth Park, the footage shows the legendary lineup at the height of their powers as a live act.

The footage has undergone restoration by a team led by Sir Peter Jackson. Alongside the cinema events, the project will see a multi-format physical and digital release on October 30 via Legacy Recordings internationally and Hollywood Records in the U.S. and Canada. Notably, the newly remixed soundtrack will be made available as a 3LP vinyl set for the very first time alongside Blu-Ray, DVD, CD, and digital editions.

Tickets for the Roundhouse screenings are on sale now, with VIP packages including drinks tokens, commemorative items, and a Freddie Mercury-style sweatband.
