The Beatles Announce Expanded ‘Rubber Soul’ Remixed Edition
The Beatles’ beloved 1965 album Rubber Soul is receiving an expanded, remixed treatment arriving October 2 via UMG and Apple Corps Ltd. Produced by Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell, the upcoming collection presents the classic record in new stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes, alongside the original mono mix and the original Capitol U.S. album version.
Inside the Super Deluxe Box Sets
Audio for the new stereo mixes has been sourced directly from the original four-track master tapes. Cutting-edge de-mixing technology, developed by Emile de la Rey’s sound team at Peter Jackson’s WingNut Films Productions Ltd., was used to bring clarity to the recordings while maintaining the spirit of the originals.
The Super Deluxe 4-CD and 5-LP box sets open up the studio archives with 24 early session recordings. This includes 20 previously unreleased takes and three previously unheard home demos featuring early versions of “Day Tripper” and “We Can Work It Out.” Fans will also get to hear “Little Girl,” a previously unheard John Lennon song outline that has never been released or even rumored before now.
Physical Formats and Book Details
In addition to the 4-CD and 5-LP collections, the release will be available in 2-CD and 2LP Special Editions featuring a curated selection of session highlights, demos, and the 1965 double A-side single. The larger box sets also include an 88-page hardbound book featuring a newly written introduction by Paul McCartney and a foreword compiled from John Lennon’s own words.
