Dropkick Murphys’ Ken Casey Launches Interview Series With Bruce Springsteen
Dropkick Murphys frontman Ken Casey has launched a new video interview series titled Home of the Brave Backstage. The project features musicians discussing the Trump administration, fighting authoritarianism, and the future of politics.
Bruce Springsteen Stars in the Premiere Episode
The first episode of the series features Casey speaking with Bruce Springsteen. During their discussion, Springsteen opened up about why he has chosen to speak out against the president and how the American ideal has driven his career.
“I just grew up with a deep love and respect for what the country could be,” Springsteen said in the episode. “And I believed it was part of my job to show the distance between American reality and the American dream. And to do my best to narrow that gap. That was my job here on planet Earth, if I had one.”
The Mission Behind Home of the Brave Backstage
The series derives its title from Home of the Brave, a nonprofit aimed at amplifying the voices of Americans speaking out against the Trump administration. The organization produces video content featuring everyday citizens addressing the president’s policies.
Casey is joined on the project by co-hosts including former Metropolitan Police Department officer Michael Fanone—who defended the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021—and Sarah Longwell, a member of the Home of the Brave advisory board. Casey noted that Fanone was actually a fan of his band, recalling that the former officer attended the very first Washington, D.C. show the Dropkick Murphys ever played.
Upcoming Guests and Future Episodes
Following the Springsteen premiere, future episodes of Home of the Brave Backstage will feature conversations with Joan Baez, Chuck D, and Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett, among other guests.
Reflecting on the project, Casey shared his appreciation for the opportunity to speak with music icons. “It was such a privilege to sit down and talk to such legendary talents and hear about their long history of using their music and their voice to speak up on behalf of the people,” he said in a statement.
