Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Reveals 2024 Nominees
The full list of 2024 nominees include a ton of first-timers such as Peter Frampton, Ozzy Osbourne, and Mariah Carey, among 7 others.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has just revealed its 2024 nominees, presenting a diverse lineup of artists vying for induction into the esteemed institution. This year’s contenders include iconic figures such as Mariah Carey, Sade, and Ozzy Osbourne, alongside groundbreaking acts like A Tribe Called Quest and Jane’s Addiction. Notably, many of the nominees are first-timers on the ballot, adding an element of anticipation to the proceedings.
Among the newcomers are powerhouses like Mary J. Blige and Cher, who have finally earned their place among the nominees after years of influential contributions to the music industry. Surprisingly absent from this year’s list are The White Stripes, who garnered attention in the previous cycle but are notably absent this time around.
The nomination process, overseen by a voting body comprised of over 1,000 artists, historians, and industry professionals, will culminate in the announcement of the Class of 2024 in late April. The induction ceremony, set to return to Cleveland, will be available for live streaming on Disney+ and will later air on ABC.
As the anticipation builds for this year’s inductees, fans and enthusiasts alike eagerly await the recognition of these musical luminaries who have left an indelible mark on the world of rock and roll.

Musicians become eligible for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first commercial recording. Despite the presence of 10 first-time nominees—such as Mariah Carey, Cher, and Ozzy Osbourne—each of these acts has met the eligibility criteria in previous years.
Among the nominees, only five acts have previously received nominations: A Tribe Called Quest (nominated in 2022 and 2023), Mary J. Blige (nominated in 2021), Dave Matthews Band (nominated in 2020), Jane’s Addiction (nominated in 2017), and Eric B. & Rakim (nominated in 2012). Notably, Ozzy Osbourne is already enshrined in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Black Sabbath, rather than for his solo work.
In the 2023 induction ceremony, Kate Bush, Missy Elliott, Sheryl Crow, Rage Against the Machine, Willie Nelson, George Michael, and the Spinners joined the esteemed ranks of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees.
As for last year’s nominees, those not featured on the 2024 ballot include Cyndi Lauper, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Soundgarden, Warren Zevon, and the White Stripes.
John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, commented in a press statement, “This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates. Continuing in the true spirit of Rock & Roll, these artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps.”
