Rolling Stones Reveal Plans for 2024 Tour
Renowned guitarist Keith Richards has made a rather morbid yet intriguing statement regarding The Rolling Stones’ 2024 tour plans.
He recently shared that the iconic rock band is gearing up for a world tour in 2024, with one unusual condition – they’ll hit the road “if everybody’s still standing.”
Originally, The Stones had intentions to embark on a tour in 2023. However, they decided to take a well-deserved summer break leading up to the release of their upcoming album, “Hackney Diamonds,” scheduled for October 20th. Unlike many aging rock legends who contemplate retirement, The Rolling Stones remain steadfast in their commitment to touring, as confirmed by Keith Richards.
Though the official tour dates are yet to be announced, Richards shared this exciting news during an interview with BBC Radio 4’s ‘Today Programme’. He humorously responded to questions about when the band might call it quits by saying, “My answer to that is: ‘I’m not Nostradamus.'”
Richards went on to say, “Of course, it’s going to end sometime. Everybody’s in good fettle – there’s no particular rush. We’re having great fun doing this, and this is what we do.”
In a recent interview, Mick Jagger, the frontman of The Rolling Stones, also pondered the possibility of a hologram tour in the future when the band members are no longer able to perform live. He noted that advances in technology, such as ABBA’s recent “Voyage” virtual show, make such ideas feasible.
Keith Richards explains how arthritis has changed his guitar technique
In the same ‘Today Programme’ interview, Keith Richards discussed how his guitar playing has adapted due to his arthritis. He mentioned that while he may have slowed down slightly with age, he doesn’t experience significant pain. Instead, he views these physical changes as opportunities for musical exploration.
Richards stated, “Funnily enough, I’ve no doubt it has affected my playing, but I don’t have any pain: it’s a sort of benign version. I think if I’ve slowed down a little bit it’s probably due more to age.”
The guitarist continued: “And also, I found that interesting, when I’m like, ‘I can’t quite do that any more,’ the guitar will show me there’s another way of doing this. Some finger will go one space different and there’s a whole new door just opened here.
The Rolling Stones founder has been wielding the guitar for nearly his entire life, but as he revealed earlier in the interview, he believes he’s far from mastering it. Keith Richards shared, “The fascinating thing is that the more you play it, the less you know it. And so you’re always learning. You never finish school, man.”” He went on to emphasize, “It provides you with endless questions. You can never know the whole thing. It’s impossible.” This perspective from a rock legend reminds us that music, like life itself, is a never-ending journey of discovery and growth.
